WHAT DO WE DO?
There are two distinct branches to Beacon Compliance;
Small and Medium Size Local Food Business Support
With experienced former local authority Environmental Health Officer insights, Beacon Compliance offers food safety support to small and medium food businesses enabling them to keep positively ‘one step ahead’ of compliance.
Quite often food business owners / entrepreneurs have the ideas and drive to make and serve great tasting food products, but they lack the proactive, ongoing legal knowledge and the technical resource to ensure that they are operating legally everyday and when new products/recipes are developed.
One unannounced visit from a local authority enforcement officer or simply a customer complaint, can lead to food business being awarded a poor hygiene rating, which in turn can result in lost trade and in the worst case, being closed down.
Take a look at our compliance packages to see if any of them can offer the support you need. Or alternatively, get in touch and we can discuss bespoke arrangements for you.
With over 10 years of technical management experience working with major UK blue chip retailers, Beacon Compliance can offer food manufacturers an array of onsite and offsite technical support from independent internal auditing, 'pre'-third party certification audits, food safety management system design and implementation, supplier approval and assessment, etc.
Hi... I'm Katie, founder of Beacon Compliance.
I studied Environmental Health and graduated in 2004 working as a Food Safety Environmental Health Officer for authorities including Penwith, Swansea and Neath Port Talbot over approximately 5 years.
In 2008 and 2010 I had my two daughter's, during which time I established my first company auditing major chains including Toby Carvery, Harvester, Sizzling Pubs, Brains, Premiere Inn, Parks Inns etc.
In 2011 I held my first position as a Technical Manager in food manufacturing for a company manufacturing Suet (I didn't know what that was!) and raw fresh and frozen meat.. Eight years later having designed and implemented food safety management systems to withstand scrutiny by Tesco, M&S, Morrisons and ASDA and working for brands such as Ginsters (yes any diets were out of the window!) and successfully maintaining Grade A BRC certifications at all of the sites, I decided to bring my local authority enforcement experience and technical management in food manufacturing together to start my own company, Beacon Compliance.
My office is based at home in South Wales, Llanelli (my kitchen!) but I visit my clients at their premises as that is where the work needs to be done!
I love my job and seeing my clients get awarded 5 Hygiene Ratings or getting their first third party accreditation such as SALSA or BRC...I'm like a proud mother!
I am passionate about what I do and work professionally, being committed to your business having the best results.
